Cadaveca tested these on his 7800GTX, and the performance was less than expected, and other people seam to be having similar results, however the 80 series have always behaved differently for different people, even with the same cards. Some people swear by 80 series drivers, and others find them terrible. If you have the time and want to see if you are one of the lucky few to enjoy great performance out of these go for it. If you want a dependable, drop in driver set, you may want to look somewhere else.

    • File Description: This is the first of the Nvidia 80 series drivers. These drivers are the first to implement optimisation for dual core CPUs, and also the first to improve cross card compatibility in SLI. This means that you can mix brands of video cards in an SLI configuration, as long as they are both still technically identical. This is a very good set, much better that the 77.72 official release, and does not have the video corruption issues that plagued the 77 series. These drivers offer the best performance to date on 6 and 7 series Geforce cards, and benchmark particularly well in Aquamark, while performing very strongly in games, particularly those using Shader Model 3.0. Highly Recommended.

Over the last couple of months, Nvidia has been working on extracting extra performance and image quality from their cards, which they have definately done in spades with the 77 series drivers, however some noticeable issues have been creeping into their drivers in the video processing department. The 77.76 driver fixes all of those video issues. No more will you have to fiddle with the overlay settings and enable VMR to produce good quality video. As well as perfect video quality, these drivers improve stability and for me at least, performance from the 77.72 driver. Also, the Nvidia 7800GTX coldbug is 100% gone. Highly Recommended driver, very stable, very reliable, many issues fixed.

    • File Description: Windows 2000/XP - Beta When it rains drivers it poors, it's really crazy this week. Another ForceWare driver set leaked today, this time from the German site ComputerBase. Opposed to the yesterday released 76.44 ForceWare drivers these however are not WHQL certified. The internal files of this archive have an earlier build date compared to the 76.44 WHQL version, however don't worry as there is a good explanation for that. It makes sense as the actual WHQL of yesterdays released 76.44 driver process takes time and only after the WHQL stamp it's repackaged. The .inf file obvisouly has been modified to give it support to the most GeForce graphics cards out there. We virus and pest checked this archive and all looks good, this is the real deal. Again, the drivers are not WHQL (Microsoft tested and approved) certified though. But that really is not a big issue.

These fixes include the de_aztec texture corruption *Fixed* halo corruption *Fixed* SLI Load balancing in Far Cry *Fixed* These drivers have a temperature reporting bug. The drivers report temperatures up to 20 degrees celcius above normal. To fix this problem, install CoolBits 2.0 to allow the overclocking tab, and overclock your 2D, core speed by 5-20mhz. This will fix the temperature issue. Remember, overclock the 2D to fix it, overclocking the 3D speed is the same as always but has no effect on temperature reports. These drivers are expected to be similar to the next official Nvidia release. Highly Recommended.
